According to a report in Football365.com,
POOL VALUE ALONSO AT £16m
Juventus have been told to pay £16m for Xabi Alonso after opening transfer talks with Liverpool.
Juve director Jean-Claude Blanc travelled to Merseyside on Tuesday for discussions about the Spanish midfielder. The Italian club are understood to value Alonso, who Liverpool bought for £10.5m from Real Sociedad four years ago, at around £12m. A formal bid has not yet be lodged, although discussions will continue today.
Benitez, who has already slapped a £16m price-tag on Peter Crouch, is desperate to raise funds for his own purchases - most notably Aston Villa skipper Gareth Barry, who he has apparently identified as Alonso's replacement.
Disapointing! He is the reason I loveeee number 14 (other than my birth date is on 14th Oct). He is the player I'm looking forward to see every match liverpool plays. £16m is good value for him. But then to lure Gareth Barry for like £10m or so as Alonso's replacement is not worth it. Enough for central midfielder. Go look for winger!
I know the time will come for him to leave. I know since Sebastian Leto, Lucas Leiva and Javier Mascherano signed for the club last summer. And last season was not really season for him as he injured his metatarsal, twice.
He got contract with Liverpool like 4 more years. I hope he will stay though. Come on Xabi !
By the way, congratulation ManU for winning the Champions League. I just don't want Avram Grant win the title. Haha.. I still hate ManU !
