Have you ever had hiccup? Obviously, yes! So what are the causes?

Hiccups (singultus) can be caused by many central and peripheral nervous system disorders, all from injury or irritation to the phrenic and vagus nerves, as well as toxic or metabolic disorders affecting the aforementioned systems. Hiccups often occur after drinking carbonated beverages or alcohol. Persistent or intractable hiccups may be caused by any condition which irritates or damages the relevant nerves. Chemotherapy—which includes a huge amount of different drugs—has been implicated in hiccups (some data states 30 percent of patients), while other studies have not proven such a relationship. Many times chemotherapy is applied to tumors sitting at places that are by themselves prone to cause hiccups, if irritated.

Ok, so how do you treat or stop hiccup? By surprises? By tell a long story to the hiccup-er?

Well, I was told by roommate that hiccup can be stop by asking a one simple question, which is, "Kau pernah curi telur tak?" (Have you ever steal eggs?) . It doesn't matter what the answer is. Automatically the hiccup will eventually stop! Yes, I did try this to my friend before. And it realllllllly stop the hiccup. Surprise? Yeah, me too.

Now test it out to your family, friends or anybody near you that having hiccup. It's fun to experimenting. :D

Oh yea, I read at Wikipedia, and there has been a record for longest hiccup and even written in the Guinesses World Records.

American man Charles Osborne had the hiccups for 68 years, from 1922 to 1990, and was entered in the Guinness World Records as the man with the Longest Attack of Hiccups. In 2007, a teenager from Florida in the United States hiccuped around 50 times a minute for more than five weeks. After her hiccups returned, her neurologist suggested that she may have Tourette syndrome, and the hiccups may be a 'tic' caused by Tourette's.

Haha, ok for that, I'm not sure whether that Telur question will stop the hiccup or not. Haha
